INDOOR BASEBALL FACILITY DESIGN REQUEST A QUOTE INDOOR HITTING FACILITY DESIGN CONSULTATION Are you considering building a baseball indoor practice facility or adding one to a building you already own? Everyone from youth through professional players can benefit from having a place to train during inclement weather. It's critical to design an indoor baseball and softball facility with care to ensure the safety of players, coaches and spectators. Grand Slam Safety has many years of experience in baseball safety. We have assisted many facility owners by developing customized fencing and netting solutions to fit your indoor baseball facility. CONTACT US SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER: INDOOR BASEBALL FACILITY DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS Structural elements like HVAC systems, lights, fire suppression, and ceiling fans can often impede your ideal layout. While we can design around these obstacles, it's more efficient and cost-effective to plan for them in advance. Better yet, sit down with our skilled, knowledgeable team to talk about the design for your new facility. We'll make sure the process runs smoothly from start to finish. As you plan your indoor baseball or softball facility layout, ask yourself a few questions to get started: Who will play at your facility? Will you host Little League games and practices, or are you aiming to attract high school and college teams? Will batting cages be incorporated into the space? Is this strictly a training facility, or will games and tournaments also be held there? Will there be places for spectators and parents to watch? How will that integrate into your space? INDOOR BASEBALL FIELD SIZE The size of your field depends on the age of the players you want to attract. Want to attract several age levels? You'll need the ability to vary the field size to accommodate different levels of play. With our SPECTO® Perimeter Containment , you can stretch the playing field to the limits of your structural footprint. You can place our fencing as close as 30 inches to any structure and still provide a safe cradling effect when players run into it at full speed. Divider curtains and sport netting can split any space into multiple playing fields or a separate practice area, like a bullpen. INDOOR BATTING CAGES Indoor batting cages require a lot of vertical and horizontal space. Our team can customize batting cages to your available space. Our standard cages measure 70 feet long, 14 feet wide and 12 feet high. We offer bottom lift cages, which collect the netting up from the bottom. Or, you can pull our batting cages horizontally on a track or cable, and stack the cages against a wall when not in use. Batting cages work best in rooms with flat or sloped ceilings. You can configure the netting into one or two cages. Add a portable pitching mound to your indoor hitting and pitching facility, and give hitters and pitchers a better simulation of game situations. AREA FOR SPECTATORS Do you plan to host tournaments at your facility? A total containment system would be your best bet. This includes tensioned mesh SPECTO® fencing for the first 8 feet, then netting above that tied to the ceiling netting. This setup keeps balls and equipment on the field while letting spectators watch the game. In fact, with our SPECTO® fencing technology bordering your indoor turf field, fans can get right up against the fence without worrying about being injured by a stray ball. This provides the ultimate viewing area experience. Do you have a balcony or upper deck for spectators? Our netting gives spectators a clear view on any level. When you stand back from the netting, it's nearly invisible to the eye, so it doesn't detract from watching the game. Individual panels can also be removed creating wider spaces to move equipment in or out or to open up more area. 3. Information for outfield fencing systems that will be helpful in determining pricing is distances from home plate to left field, home plate to center field, home plate to right field. Also let us know if you have natural grass or synthetic turf and how often you plan to put the fence up and down. Anchor 7 Anchor 8 8. How long does it take to set up and take down a fencing system? return to questions For outfield fences it usually takes three people about 1 ½ hours for the first few times setting up and tearing down. Once your grounds crew is familiar with the procedure, it takes as little as an hour. With an indoor system each panel can be removed in less than 5 minutes or reinstalled in less than 10. Anchor 9 9. What dimension options are available? return to questions Our fencing systems typically come in 7’ and 8’ tall sections. However, although we can customize your fence heights to your needs, Grand Slam Safety will not fabricate a fencing system less than 7' in height for safety reasons. SPECTO Fencing System can be designed for any length needed. Anchor 10 10. What are the foundation requirements? return to questions Outdoor fences use helical piles, ground screws, or concrete footers. Indoor fences use concrete footers, ground screws or existing steel framing. 11. Can the field be used when the fence is down? return to questions Yes. Fencing systems can be completely removed and synthetic turf inserts placed in support pole holes to make a seamless field of play. Anchor 11 12. Can the fence be left up? return to questions Yes; however, we recommend that the panels of outdoor systems be removed in off seasons to protect them from unneeded UV exposure. Anchor 12 Anchor 13 13. How do SPECTO fencing systems handle wind issues? return to questions In any wind above 60mph we recommend the fabric of the fencing system be removed and stored. We also have engineered a clutch and clip system that releases the top of the fence, under extreme wind conditions, preventing damage to the poles. Anchor 14 14. Can the same fence be used for softball and baseball? return to questions Yes. You will need to install two sets of foundations, one at the baseball fence distance and one at the softball fence distance, and panels switched out to accommodate different fence lengths and distance markers. Synthetic turf inserts cover the foundation holes that are not being used. 15 15. What level of athletics are SPECTO fences designed for? return to questions Fencing systems are designed for all levels of play–children to professionals. 16 16. What kind of finish do SPECTO poles have? return to questions All steel is finished with a powder coating. 17 17. What about foul territory? return to questions We offer a 4 foot high removable foul territory fence that fastens into the SPECTO foul poles or we can extend the SPECTO fencing to an out of bounds termination point. 18 18. What about vandalism? return to questions The SPECTO fabric is a rip stop material. This means that it can be cut with a very sharp object (knife) but will not continue to tear. An individual panel can be removed to be mended or replaced. This can be done in approximately 20 minutes while the fence is up. 19 19. • Who We Are | Grand Slam Safety

WHO WE ARE OUR STORY It all started in Northern New York In the winter of 2008 the President of the Beaver River Central School Booster club approached Bob Lyndaker, who had a son playing on the high school baseball team. “Bob, what do you think about putting up an outfield fence?” the president asked. Bob's reply, “I think it's a great idea...as long as it's safe.” That began the journey of looking for a fence that he felt would be safe enough for his son's team. After countless hours of dead-end searches for products that allowed playability for both the outfielders and the batters, Bob came up empty handed. The outfield fences that he did find were either too dangerous or too flimsy for outfielders to run up against. Also, these fences were set so far back (again for outfielder safety) that a batter could never even dream of hitting a true “home-run”. It then occurred to Bob that if the fence that the school wanted didn't exist, maybe he could make one! All that spring and summer Bob began late nights of working the math, the angles, and the mechanics. This led to more late nights of design and prototype production in his basement and garage. Quite literally he was designing a fence from the ground up. After running the idea by some engineers and getting their approval he felt that he had something that would work. Bob gathered a few friends to discuss the idea and show them a prototype he had created. Before he knew it four friends were forging a partnership to design and manufacture a baseball fence. Bob was joined by Mickey Lehman, whose daughter played on the girl's softball team, and by Dave Moore, whose son played alongside Bob's son on the baseball team. Another Bob; Bob Chamberlian, joined in as well. He had been the cross-country coach for the school as well as a teacher there. Together these men formed the partnership that today is Grand Slam Safety, LLC. With a fence, some friends, and a lot of support from family and the school, the partners installed the first full size prototype fence at Beaver River Central School in July of 2009. Over the rest of the summer they tested, tweaked and tried new ideas. That winter, those ideas were incorporated into what would be known as the “Safety Fence”. When the spring baseball season of 2010 came, the students of Beaver River had a state of the art (and the worlds first) “Safety Fence”, by Grand Slam Safety, LLC. As the Baseball/Softball Fencing System developed, and other schools started to hear about it, the partners soon realized that the fencing system wasn't just a good idea – it was a good business. Soon they were filling orders for other schools who wanted fences. The idea was catching on; and with the fences being so easily customized to each field's dimensions and needs, the partners quickly realized the potential to go beyond just baseball/softball fields. Soon a partnership was formed with SlamDiabetesTM to provide outfield fencing for their fund-raising plastic bat-n-ball Tournaments. Development was started on a Tennis Court Containment System to provide safety for players and view-ability for spectators. Next came the development of the Field House Containment System, which was first installed in the fall of 2014 at Accelerate Sports in Whitesboro, NY. Accelerate Sports was the first sports complex in the country to have this revolutionary new safety product. Over this time period Grand Slam Safety, LLC had outgrown Bob Lyndaker's garage, and even a small barn that Bob Chamberlain was providing. The partners knew it was time to open up a proper design and manufacturing facility. Committed to building up their hometown economy and keeping jobs local, the partners decided to buy an old production plant along the banks of the Beaver River in Croghan, NY. This 60,000 sq/ft facility was soon transformed into the working center of the Grand Slam Safety enterprise. Who would have known that when Bob Lyndaker started designing and sewing a fence in his basement, a dream was born that is taking root today. Grand Slam Safety is providing exceptional safe fencing products for sports and beyond while upholding a vision of growing the local economy and providing jobs for their community. Grand Slam Safety, LLC now has fences being installed in many different areas in the United States and has a sales office in the growing markets of Korea and Asia. From an idea to a reality - from our desire for quality and safety to your desire for craftsmanship and reliability – Grand Slam Safety is continuing to lead the way. Thank you to everyone who's cheered us on. We do this for you! MEET THE TEAM

This is athletic fence installation made easy and on your terms. Each support pole and foul pole is anchored firmly into the ground by one of two methods. (Many of our SPECTO Indoor Field Containment Systems can use existing structural supports instead of creating new foundation anchors.) REQUEST QUOTE Helical Shallow Foundations These premium fence post foundations are installed quickly, without damaging the sod or turf field. No need to dig ugly holes. No waiting for concrete to cure. These unique, helical-style fence post foundations screw directly into the ground, providing instant support for SPECTO Sport Fencing. They can even be installed indoors or limited access areas. Foundations are hidden underground during the offseason to accommodate multi-purpose sport fields. These long-lasting, galvanized foundations can also be unscrewed and reinstalled, when field fences need to be moved or redesigned. Grand Slam Safety has partnered with IFS - Modern Pile Technologies to provide fencing foundations specifically engineered to provide superior lateral support — ideal for our high-impact fencing solutions. Install your SPECTO Sport Fence faster, with less mess, and more support using helical shallow foundations. Concrete Foundations Concrete foundations are easily installed by a contractor or your grounds crew. These foundations require steel and PVC sleeves to be embedded in the the concrete to accept the support poles which hold up the fence. Concrete foundation foul pole installation can have either a sleeved or flanged foot, the sleeve offers faster install and removal, but does not allow any adjustment if foundation shifts. The flanged foot allows adjustment to ensure foul pole is plumb. We recommend letting concrete fence foundation option cure 2-3 weeks before erecting your fencing system. Turf Inserts When support posts are removed, synthetic turf inserts can be placed in each post hole. • Sports Facility Planning Checklist | Grand Slam Safety

BUILDING A SPORTS FACILITY CHECKLIST Contact Us To Discuss Your Facility STARTING A SPORTS COMPLEX Planning an athletics facility can seem like a challenging task because there are so many things to consider. At Grand Slam Safety, we are happy to help you look at things from the very beginning to the completion of the project. Let's break it down into the main parts so you can get started. 1. Determine Which Sports Will Be Played Do you need basketball courts, baseball fields or soccer fields? For which age groups? Different age groups will often have a different field or court size. Do you need a gymnasium that can host multiple different sports? In order to plan the size of each area, you'll have to decide on the sport and age group you'd like to accommodate. Tight on space? Think about multiuse areas that can be divided or repurposed for different sports . 2. Decide on Flooring Once you know which courts and fields you need, you can choose your facility's flooring. Consider the different hardwood or synthetic surface options for your court, keeping in mind the surface hardness as well as safety requirements and budget. For fields, determine which type of turf you'll need. Think about what floor you want for the non-sporting areas, too. Grand Slam Safety can offer you great deals on turf products for your facility. INDOOR FACILITY ADVICE Call 315-301-4039 3. Athletic Facility Layout - Consider Support Areas You need more than a court to host a game. Now that you know which sports you want to host and what type of courts and fields you'll need, figure out which support areas are needed. You might include: Locker rooms. Equipment closets. Laundry facilities. Offices. An issue area for gear. An athletic trainer's room that is set up for first aid. Bathrooms for spectators. A box office for tickets. Many facilities also offer a snack or juice bar. Sports Complex_0028_nologo Sports Complex_0012_nologo_edited batting cage3 Sports Complex_0028_nologo 1/6 6. Design With Sanitation in Mind Hosting athletic events means there will be many people in your facility, and many of them will be breaking a sweat and breathing heavily. It's important to consider airflow and ease of sanitation in your design. Use hard, nonporous surfaces or antimicrobial-treated laminates. Make sure fixtures can be moved when it's time to clean them. 4. Find Space for Spectators Now it's time to think about where the spectators will be. Where can the bleachers go? Will the spectators be in any danger of getting hit with loose balls or equipment? There is no need to worry about spectator safety if you are using our SPECTO® Perimeter Fencing System . Set aside areas by each court for the spectators, and then consider if you will need netting. 5. Consider Netting, Fencing and Gym Dividers Netting is useful for more than just protecting spectators. You can also utilize netting , fencing or gym dividers to optimize your space and even host multiple games at once. Add or remove court dividers to change the layout of your space, allowing for more or different sports to be played at different times. Fencing or netting can also protect the rest of your facility, such as vending machines, water fountains or even scoreboards. 8. Make an Equipment List Before opening your sports facility, you'll need to acquire some equipment. Grand Slam Safety can meet all your sporting supply needs . Depending on the sports you want to host, you might need the following: Bleachers Benches Scoreboards Basketball hoops Volleyball nets Baseball plates Soccer goals Uniforms Helmets Balls 7. Plan Lighting You'll need to have a well-lit facility that has flexibility for the different events you want to host. Think about utilizing natural light sources, like skylights and windows.
