Concord University | Athens, WV

Grand Slam Safety and ET Boggess Architects designed Concord University's indoor baseball training facility from the ground up.

When Concord University set out to build a new indoor baseball training facility for its NCAA Division 2 program, it needed a containment system that could handle high training volume, fast-paced sessions, and collegiate athletes. ET Boggess Architects brought Grand Slam Safety in early to design the layout from the ground up, so the containment system was planned with the building from the start.

What Grand Slam Safety Delivered

Two VISTA Divider Curtains

We installed two custom VISTA divider curtain (VDC) systems. Each curtain runs on a 2-horsepower, 3-phase, 208 V motor and operates with the turn of a key switch, so the space can be divided into individual batting lanes. VISTA curtains use a pull-fold design with cables attached to a medium-duty bottom ballast. This spreads weight evenly as the curtain is raised or lowered and supports long-term durability.

Stationary Shell Net

One stationary shell net completes the area with full containment across the training space, helping contain balls and equipment inside the facility.

How Grand Slam Safety Helped

Design Matched to the Facility

We partnered directly with Concord University and ET Boggess Architects to build the system around the facility's exact specs and ceiling pitch.

Flexible and Permanent Containment in One System

Our team designed a system that balances flexibility, through the motorized divider curtains, with permanent containment from the stationary shell net. The result is a complete, custom system for the program's training space.

Planning an Indoor Baseball Training Facility

If you are planning an indoor baseball or softball facility, we can work with your architect and project team during the design phase. That way your containment system fits your building's specs, ceiling height, and training needs from the start.
