Deadlines for NCAA Fencing Rules Changes

In 2017 the NCAA will continue implementing major changes to rules regarding fencing for collegiate softball fields. (See this link to the NCAA's website). That means many softball outfield fences and dugout protection fences will need to be modified, replaced, or installed to meet the new regulation criteria.

The three major changes being implemented:

CHANGE: In 2017 - Softball Fence Height and Distance Requirements SOLUTION: SPECTO® Softball Fencing System

CHANGE: Required by 2018: Protection on the field side of the dugout

CHANGE: Required by 2018: Foul poles at a minimum of 10’ and be either white or optic orange.

NCAA Softball Rule Book - Section 2.11 - It is highly recommended that the playing field be enclosed completely by sideline fences and a permanent home-run fence in a smooth arc of not more than 235 feet from home plate.
