In 2017 the NCAA will continue implementing major changes to rules regarding fencing for collegiate softball fields. (See this link to the NCAA's website). That means many softball outfield fences and dugout protection fences will need to be modified, replaced, or installed to meet the new regulation criteria.
The three major changes being implemented:
CHANGE: Required by 2018: Protection on the field side of the dugout
SOLUTION: SPECTO® Sport Fencing System
CHANGE: Required by 2018: Foul poles at a minimum of 10’ and be either white or optic orange.
SOLUTION: SPECTO® Softball Fencing System
(Additionally this recommendation from NCAA will most likely become a rule in the near future)
NCAA Softball Rule Book - Section 2.11 - It is highly recommended that the playing field be enclosed completely by sideline fences and a permanent home-run fence in a smooth arc of not more than 235 feet from home plate.
SPECTO® Sport Fencing Systems by Grand Slam Safety, LLC exceed the new NCAA regulations AND are the safest alternative to chain-link or other commercial options.
With patented technology, SPECTO® allows for safe interactions between athletes and fencing by absorbing player impact with a cradling effect guaranteed to reduce injuries. SPECTO® Sport Fencing Systems can also be installed as baseline fencing and dugout protection to ensure safety for all players and spectators.
SPECTO® panels are composed of see-through, vinyl-coated mesh, which allows excellent visibility from dugouts and spectator viewing areas, and are extremely durable.
